On the walk over, Kevin couldn't help but ask why the secret passage doors were shut. Willow hated to lie about what was going on, but she promised Sid she'd say nothing. Finally a response jumped in her mind. "There were to many wild animals getting in."
"What? The only 'wild animals' are the strays, which everyone knows."
"Right, anyways, what brings you back here?"
"Nice, trying to avoid something?"
"Not exactly...I just promised someone something."
"Oh."
"Back to my question," Willow quickly tried to change the subject to avoid breaking her promise to Sid.
Kevin knew something was on Willow's mind, but he wasn't exactly sure what. "My mom wants to come here for a week and wants to sit down and 'talk things out.'"
"That sounds fun." She replied with a hint of sarcasm. Kevin opened the door and motioned for Willow to go in. As they sat down they were handed menus and begin talking about what Kevin had missed, except for the promise that Willow was prohibited to speak of.
"So when do I get to see my best friend?"
"Uhm. I don't know she's at work right now...I suppose she'll be home for dinner. You're staying for dinner right?"
"When do I ever miss a home cooked meal at your house?"
Willow had to laugh at that. It was true-whenever Theresa cooked for the family, Kevin was at the big white french doors and asking what was for dinner. Flashing a quick smile at Kevin, Willow responded with a sense of sadness, "Well then that's when you'll see her."

Chapter One: Memories
"Mattie!" The now 15 year old, Willow, squealed after the cheetah fast golden retriever. "HEEL! STOP! Oh my God." She placed her hands on her knees out of breath after chasing the dog three blocks from her street corner.
Something caught her eye. More like a someone, with her dog dancing around his feet! She quickly stood up and brushed her long beach blonde hair out of her face and behind her ear. "Uhm, thanks" she muttered quickly.
"What, you don't recognize me?"
"Kev!!" Willow squealed with joy as she hugged her sister's best friend. "When did you get back? When do you have to leave again? How's college?"
"Woah! Slow your roll, how about we go get some food somewhere? Crabby Captain's?"
"Sure, let me take Mattie back and tell my parents. They'll love seeing you! Especially Sid. She should be back from her hike." Willow took a big stride and began walking towards her house on the beach, Kevin in tow.
"Looking for butterflies still?" When did she get curves...and boobs! Wow, I've been gone way too long. Wait, I can think of Willi like that, she's the pestering little sister..not so little anymore. Kevin tried to shake his thoughts, but WOW Willow has changed since last summer.
"You know Sid. You should of seen the one she caught yesterday. It was beyond goregous if you're staying long you can see the picture of it after Sid developes the pictures."
"Can't wait." Still staring at Willow as she opened the back door to her house releasing all of the memories that were boarded up inside.
"Kevin McIntyre is that you?" Enveloping him in a hug, Theresa began her twenty questions. "Sid will be so happy. She should be down in a bit but then she has to go to work at the new Target they added. Have you had a chance to see it? It's double size the last one we had."
"Uhm, Mom? Kevin and I were going to go catch up at Crabby Captain's is that ok?"
Handing Kevin forty dollars, "Of course honey! Here it's on me! Kevin don't be shy tonight, come over for dinner. We're having spaghetti!"
Through his smile he replied a short and simple answer, "of course!" Kevin quickly glanced over at the french doors that had been used through the years as a secret passage between the two houses. Always open, but now they were closed.

Maybe..Someday:Prologue
"Sidney, Kev and his mom are on their way over for dinner!" Theresa called up to the energetic two year old. All she could hear after that was the fumbling toddler running down the upstairs hallway and down the stairs to the grand entrance of the beach house. The two families had begun to turn into one the day that the Evenings moved in. After that Kevin McIntyre and Sidney Evening were inseparable. Theresa watched Kevin when his mom, Adela, went back to work after Mr. McIntyre left his family. Joseph became the father figure to Kevin, and didn't mind seeing as he had only a daughter and another on the way.
"Come on Kev! Let's go to the playhouse," Sidney whispered as she pointed with her tiny pointer finger. When they reached the wooden shed-turned play house sitting next to the propertyline, the two toddlers layed on the floor next to eachother.
"I wish I had a brother." The chubby, dark curly haired little boy said, breaking the silence.
"Well you've got me. And I'll share Willow with you. If you promise not to break her."
"You really mean it?"
"Do you promise not to break her?" Sidney replied with half grin.
"With all my heart!"
